
Mapquest
MapQuest is an online web mapping service that was founded in 1967 and who’s popularity peaked in the early 2000s before being overtaken by Google Maps. Although it has lost a little of its prominence, it still has the second-highest share of the online mapping market in the United States. Throughout its history its identity has lacked focus, sophistication and presence. I redesigned Mapquest’s branding system to be simpler, more sophisticated and modern because I believe that a brand for a mapping service should reflect clarity and confidence.

The redesigned MapQuest logo is made up of abstracted “M” and “Q” letterforms that represent both connecting paths and landscapes.

The MapQuest branding on stationery pieces is clear and friendly.

The Mapquest app icon features the mark and is clear and distinct on a mobile devices.

The brand appears translates well on promotional items such as t-shirts.

The MapQuest identity is a welcome sight on the walls of the corporate headquarters.

The Mapquest brand boldy stands out on promotional vehicles.
